Gator Baseball Wins SEC Tourney Opener
Published May 25th, 2011
Bolstered by a Brian Johnson go-ahead grand slam, the Florida Gator baseball team rallied from a 5-2 deficit to defeat Mississippi State 7-5 in Tuesday's opening round of the SEC tournament. Down 5-2 in the 7th inning, Johnson's 5th home run of the season vaulted the Gators back into the lead, and a Preston Tucker RBI single in the 8th provided the final margin. Florida advances in the winners bracket, where the Gators will meet Alabama on Wednesday.
