Gator Softball One Win Shy From 4th Consecutive Women's College World Series
Published May 27th, 2011
The fourth-seeded Florida Gators continued the offensive explosion in the NCAA Softball Tournament, routing Oregon 9-1 in five innings. The Gators are only one win shy of making its fourth-consecutive appearance at the Women's College World Series. As Florida has done all year, the long ball was the Gators friend. Sophomore Brittany Schutte hit two-run home runs in the first and third innings, giving the Gators a 5-1 lead after three innings. Today's two homers tie the SEC season home run record at 109, which was also owned by the 2010 Florida Gators. Oregon will try to play spoiler Saturday, where Florida will look to close out the Ducks at 12 p.m. at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
