Mike Zunino became just the second Florida baseball player to earn SEC Player of the Year honors Tuesday, capping off a brilliant regular season. The sophomore catcher took home the Gators version of the triple crown, leading Florida in batting average (.383), home runs (15), and runs batted in (59). In addition, Zunino led the Gators in doubles (19), slugging percentage (.701), on-base percentage (.455), total bases (141), hits (77) and runs (62).
Zunino was just as stellar on defense, with just one error in 445 chances this year.
Zunino joins Matt LaPorta (2005, '07) as the only Gators to earn the honor.
