L.A. Dodgers File For Bankruptcy
Published June 27th, 2011
The Los Angeles Dodgers filed for bankruptcy protection today after a failed settlement between the team's owners Frank McCourt and wife Jamie. The League has been trying to force them to sell the team, but the pair has avoided selling and trying to stay afloat with a new three billion dollar television deal.
Frank McCourt said the MLB purposely nixed the television deal, causing turmoil with Dodger finances, including making payroll to its employees.
Filing for bankruptcy will provide money for the Dodgers to make payroll.
The League has the right to take over the team, if the Dodgers fail to make payroll this Thursday.
