Lake City 16-U Softball Team Raising Money for Regional Trip
Published July 15th, 2011
The Lake City Sliders won the Babe Ruth State Championship in softball's 16 and under class, but now they need the help of North Central Florida to get to the next step. For the first time in their history, the Lake City softball team qualified for the Babe Ruth Regional Tournament in Richmond, Virginia and are raising money to cover all team expenses for the trip. Fundraising started earlier this week, including Friday's "Jail for Bail" theme outside of Taco Bell, where players locked themselves up until each raised $250. On Saturday, the group will be washing cars outside of Moe's in Lake City, and on Tuesday will be in front of Wal-Mart for any charitable donations.
