Wambach, Team USA Falls To Japan

Published July 17th, 2011

It had been since 1999 that the US Women have been a part of the FIFA World Cup Championships and Americans could almost touch the World Cup Title.

Team USA looked strong throughout the game, but struggled with turning opportunities into goals. Japan held on long enough to tie the game 2-2 in extra time, going on to win the game in penalty kicks 3-1.

Former Gator Abby Wambach says that it was an obvious heart breaker, but that she is proud of her team.
