Gator Freshman Tight End A.C. Leonard Out 6-8 Weeks
Published August 10th, 2011
The Florida Gator football team received yet another blow to an already thin group of tight ends. Highly-touted freshman A.C. Leonard tore his meniscus in his left knee on Saturday, sidelining the tight end at least six to eight weeks. Leonard had surgery Wednesday morning in what head coach Will Muschamp called a scope procedure. Muschamp said that Leonard will be reevaluated after the allotted timeframe on whether he will see playing time this season. Leonard suffered the injury in a non-contact drill with no one near him. Jordan Reed and Gerald Christian are the only tight ends left on the Gators squad, so Muschamp switched defensive tackle Clay Burton to help fill the void and said Omarius Hines would work in situational circumstances.
