Gator Volleyball Orange and Blue Scrimmage Wraps Up UF Fan Day
The Florida Gator volleyball team has big shoes to fill; the result of such a stellar season in 2010. Mary Wise returns the majority of her squad that was ranked No. 1 in the country for eight consecutive weeks and went undefeated in SEC round-robin play. But gone are senior contributors Lauren Bledsoe, Callie Rivers, and Erin Fleming, and two starters have to step into the spotlight and accept the challenge. Saturday, the volleyball team gave fans a glimpse of what's in store for the 2011 season, with Florida competing in its Orange and Blue scrimmage. As scrimmages tend to do, players switched sides on occasion to show different looks and combinations. Senior outside hitter Stephanie Ferrell led the way with a match-high 16 kills, with the Orange team defeating the Blue team 3-1 (25-13, 25-7, 23-25, 25-22).
