Blind Bowler Overcomes Adversity, Inspires Others
Published September 20th, 2011
Henry Svetina was never a bowler. He didn't even pick up the sport until a tragic accident took his eyesight. Henry lost his vision over 20 years ago in a work-related accident when sulfuric acid spilled into his eyes. The acid burned his retinas, and doctors told him there was nothing they could do for his vision. But bowling brought Svetina out of depression, and he's been throwing the ball ever since. The 51 year old has shot two perfect games and bowls in Pro-Am leagues across the country. He wants people to know that anything is possible, and to never let someone tell you what you can't do.
