Gator Bowl Announces Weekend Festivities

If you are traveling to Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl weekend, here's a list of activities you and the family can enjoy before Florida meets Ohio State on January 2.

Saturday- December 31, 2011:

10:00 a.m. VyStar 5K Run - scenic run through downtown Jacksonville. Runners can register on race day in front of the Jacksonville Landing. Cost - $30.

12:00 noon CSX Coaches Luncheon and Hall of Fame Induction that salutes past heroes of the Gator Bowl and welcomes this year's teams and head coaches. Limited tickets still available at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. $50.00 per head.

3:00 p.m. The Florida Blue Hometown Gator Bowl Parade steps off in style with high school marching bands, floats and bands from both universities. Catch the parade at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

All Day The Jacksonville Landing - Fun, food and entertainment galore for fans of all ages

Midnight: Fireworks will light up the sky over the St. Johns River at midnight to usher in
2012.

New Year's Day - January 1, 2012

12:00 noon New Year's Day Festival - at St. John's Town Center (JT Butler Blvd.) A fan friendly, family-oriented festival where team spirit will come alive as fans enjoy food and entertain all day long as they cheer on their favorite university band and cheerleaders during the official team pep rallies.

2:00 p.m. Florida Pep Rally
3:00 p.m. Performance by The OC Band
4:00 p.m. Ohio State Pep Rally

Game Day - January 2, 2012

10:00 a.m. Budweiser Tailgate Party - South Pavilion at EverBank Field - it's a party where
team spirit abounds. Enjoy food and entertainment for the entire family.
Admission: $10 or free with The PATCH (may be purchased at the gate).

12:30 p.m. The Fidelity National Financial Pregame Show will "Salute America's Heroes"

12:55 p.m. The National Anthem will be performed by Bo Bice, national recording artist and "American Idol" runner-up.

1:00 p.m. The official coin toss will be conducted by TaxSlayer.com spokesperson and NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Dale will drive his race car to centerfield for the official coin toss.

1:03 p.m. The official kickoff of the 67
the Annual TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl.
