Fort White, Santa Fe Advance in District 5-2A Girls Soccer Tournament
Alachua is the site of the District 5-2A Girls Soccer Tournament, with the host Santa Fe Lady Raiders enjoying the view from the top as the number one seed. Bradford County had the unenviable task of taking on the Lady Raiders in the quarterfinals. The Lady Tornadoes showed fight in the first few minutes, but Santa Fe pulled away with eight goals in all, beating Bradford County 8-0.
Meanwhile, in early tournament quarterfinal action, number four and five seeds Newberry and Fort White were in a heated scoreless battle that didn't end until double overtime. In the second extra stanza, the Lady Indians took the victory after Newberry goalkeeper Casey Locke couldn't quite corral a save, and on second effort Danielle Wooley put it in the back of the net for Fort White.
