Gator Baseball Falls Short of Sweep, Lose to Cal State Fullerton 8-5
The brooms will have to wait for another time. The Florida Gators were ready to sweep a three-game set with Cal State Fullerton, taking a 3-0 lead into the fifth inning. But the Titans flipped the score with back-to-back four-run frames in the 5th and 6th, beating the top-ranked team in the country 8-5. Junior left-hander Brian Johnson held Cal State Fullerton at bay through four, but sophomore Jonathon Crawford let them back in it after a leadoff walk eventually turned into a four-run frame. Relief pitcher Steven Rodriguez was tossed from the game in the 6th shortly after giving up a three-run home run to J.D. Davis. Rodriguez plunked the next batter, and the umpire had seen enough, ejecting the junior left-hander for the remainder of the game.
