Hawthorne Can't Tame Tigers, Lose To Chipley In 1A State Basketball Championship

The Hawthorne Hornets fended off Tigers in the Boys Class 1A State Semifinal, but two Tigers proved too tough as Hawthorne lost the state championship game to Chipley 71-48 on Wednesday. Hawthrone trailed from the start, falling behind 19-4 at the end of the first quarter, and trailing by as much as 31 in the second half. Leamon Wilson had a team high-18 points for the Hornets, who finished the season 22-8.
