Published April 23rd, 2012
In their fifth rubber game in a row to decide an SEC series, the Florida Gators refused to let a golden opportunity slip away against bitter rival Georgia. Down 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Florida used a four-run frame capped by a three-run homer by senior Daniel Pigott to beat the Bulldogs 6-3. Pigott matched a career-best with four RBI on the afternoon. Sophomore pitcher Karsten Whitson picked up the victory in relief while Austin Maddox closed out a perfect ninth inning for his 11th save in 11 chances this season.
