Gator Gymnastics Advance to NCAA Championships
Published April 8th, 2012
The Gator Gymnastics team had its eyes set at the top since the very beginning, and they're one step closer to claiming the school's first gymnastics national championship. No. 1 Florida took the NCAA Raleigh Regional meet title on Saturday with a 197.325, besting second place Ohio State by a full point (196.225). The win puts the Gators as the top seed in Duluth, Georgia for the NCAA Championships, set for April 20-22. The appearance marks Florida's 30th in the 31-year history of the NCAA Gymnastics championships (lone miss in 2000). The Gators were in Duluth just a few weeks ago and wrapped up an eighth SEC crown. Now, Florida will make another repeat trip this season with the hopes of coming back to Gainesville with the ultimate prize.
