Gators Use Six-Run Eighth to Beat Ole Miss 9-4
Published April 1st, 2012
For the second straight day, the No. 1 Florida baseball team had to overcome a late deficit in Oxford against Ole Miss. Fortunately for the Gators, the bats woke up in the nick of time. Down 3-2 in the top of the eighth inning, Florida strung together four straight hits, capped by a three-run Vickash Ramjit homer to lift the Gators to a 9-4 victory. Florida had six straight batters reach base before the Rebel Bears recorded the first out of the inning. By the time the frame concluded, it was a 8-3 Gator lead and junior Austin Maddox closed it out in the final two innings, allowing only a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth. Florida will look to take the series on Sunday in the rubber match between the two teams.
