Gator Men's Golf Dips, McCumber Stays Near Top of NCAA Leaderboard
The Florida Gator men's golf team slipped from 2nd to 8th after day two of the NCAA championships on Wednesday, but Gators Head Coach Buddy Alexander isn't worried. "The cool thing about this tournament is that you don't know where you stand until after 36 holes," Alexander said. "The good thing is that we put ourselves in a spot where we can make a run at it tomorrow."
Meanwhile, Tyler McCumber continued his run at an individual championship, firing an even-par 71 at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. His two-day total of 139 put him in a tie for 2nd, two strokes behind leader Thomas Pieters of Illinois.
As a team, the Gators must finish in the top 8 to advance to the match play portion of the championships, which begin after round three on Thursday.
