For the fifth straight year, the Florida Gator softball team was awarded a top-five national seed in the NCAA Tournament. But for the first time since 2006, the Orange and Blue will not advance to the Super Regionals. Florida was stymied by South Florida's Sara Nevins in a 1-0 loss on Sunday that ended the Gators season. Nevins struck out 12 Florida batters and held the team to five hits overall. The Gators had their best scoring opportunity in the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded and nobody out. But Nevins got out of the jam with back-to-back strikeouts of Samantha Holle and Jess Damico, and got Briana Little to ground out to shortstop to end the inning. Florida finished its season with a record of 48-13.
