I'll Have Another Wins 138th Kentucky Derby
In almost fitting fashion, on Cinco de Mayo the colt with the best drinking moniker took the latest Run for the Roses. In the 138th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, I'll Have Another fought back from a five-lengths deficit to stun Bodemeister and win the first leg of the triple crown. I'll Have Another, pinhooked in Williston from Eisaman Equine, was the first in the 138 years of the Derby to win from the 19th slot. The three-year-old had 15-to-1 odds and upset 4-to-1 favorite Bodemeister. Dullahan showed in third place. All horses in the trifecta had ties to North Central Florida. Ironically, I'll Have Another's name doesn't refer to alcohol. Instead, it's owner J. Paul Reddam's response when answering his wife if he'd like any more cookies for the evening.
