I'll Have Another Wins Preakness Stakes, 1 Race Away From Triple Crown
Published May 20th, 2012
Once again, Bodemeister was the favorite. Once again, I'll Have Another was the horse that tracked him down to win. The 137th Preakness Stakes played out much like the 138th Kentucky Derby two weeks ago. Bodemesiter was once again the pace-setter at Pimlico, and seemed poised to take one of the jewels of the triple crown. But just like at Churchill Downs, I'll Have Another, who spent time as a yearling at Eisaman Equine in Williston, found another gear and beat Bodemeister (trained by the McKathan Brothers in Citra) by a neck. Owner J. Paul Reddam remarked to reporters afterwards how dumbfounded he remains that he could buy a champion horse for the bargain basement price of $11,000.
