Kentucky Avoids Sweep, Nips Gator Baseball Team 2-1
No. 5 Florida and No. 6 Kentucky were in a pitchers duel of a game on Saturday in Lexington, but the Wildcats managed just enough offense to get past the Gators 2-1. Florida failed to bring runners in scoring position on every attempt in the game, with the lone Florida run coming off a solo-home run by Daniel Pigott in the top of the ninth inning. Pigott's sixth round-tripper of the season cut the deficit in half, but with the tying run in scoring position Nolan Fontana recorded the final out with a soft liner to second base. The Gators already earned the series victory, but were looking for their first sweep in a weekend series since taking three from Vanderbilt on March 18th. Florida is in third place in the SEC East standings, one game behind Kentucky, and one-and-a-half games behind South Carolina.
