Top-Seed Jinx? Gator Baseball Hopes Not
Published May 30th, 2012
For the first time in program history, the Florida Gator baseball team is the top national seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. While Gator fans are rejoicing at once again being considered the top team in the country, the luck of number one overall seeds hasn't fared well in the past. Only one top-seeded team has won the College World Series since the NCAA switched to an eight national seed format back in 1999, and that was the Miami Hurricanes in the inaugural year. Florida head coach Kevin O'Sullivan isn't buying into the possible jinx, and is just getting ready for Friday's matchup with Bethune-Cookman at 7pm.
