With Ryan Lochte taking the first of several anticipated showdowns versus Michael Phelps, a trio of current and former University of Florida swimmers qualified to swim in the 2012 Summer Olympics on day 1 of the United States Olympic Swim trials in Omaha, Ne. Lochte started the night with a 400 IM win over Phelps- winning in 4:07:06 and handing Phelps his first defeat at the US Swim trials since 2004. Current Gator Elizabeth Beisel also punched her ticket to London, swimming a personal record 4:31.74 to win the women's 400 IM and send Beisel to her second summer games. Rounding out the big night for Gator Nation, Conor Dwyer qualified for his first Olympics, finishing 2nd in the men's 400 Freestyle.
