Union Rags Wins Belmont Stakes
Published June 10th, 2012
Saturday's Belmont Stakes opened up for Union Rags when I'll Have Another surprisingly retired the day before the race due to a left leg tendon injury. With the winner of the first two jewels of the Triple Crown out, Union Rags got to showcase his potential. Union Rags chased down front-runner Paynter in the final stretch of the Belmont Stakes and the three-year old completed the comeback by a neck. The photo finish saw Union Rags ahead of Paynter, setting a winning time of 2 minutes and 30.42 seconds. Antugun finished in third place behind Union Rags and Paynter.
