Buchholz RB Tony James Transfers to Rival GHS
The Buchholz High football program lost another key component for the upcoming football season. After struggling through a 1-9 season and dealing with the recent firing of head coach Matt Kerstetter, the latest blow comes from Bobcats running back Tony James. The incoming junior transferred to rival Gainesville High, giving the Purple Hurricanes another offensive weapon for an already-deep squad. James, a D-1 type talent, has scholarship offers from multiple schools including UF, Ohio State, and Miami (FL), but was told by GHS head coach James Thomson he'll have to earn his spot as a Purple Hurricane. James cited his injuries with the Bobcats (concussions), as well as the firing of Kerstetter as a few reasons he made his decision. Buchholz faces Gainesville on the football field October 12th at Citizens Field.
