More Olympic Notes
The London games continue and this time, the Gator Nation was well represented. Former Florida Gator swimmer Jemma Lowe advanced to the 200 meter butterfly final for Great Britain, and Clark Burckle moved on to the 200 meter breaststroke final. Burckle is the sixth place qualifier for tomorrow's men's final. And in tennis, former Gator Lisa Raymond and Liezel Huber won their opening round doubles match against Poland with the scores 6-4 and 7-6. Raymond and Huber will move on to the quarterfinals. In Olympic swimming, Michael Phelps and former Gators Ryan Lochte and Conor Dwyer teamed up with Ricky Berens in the 4X200 freestyle relay and dominated the race, taking gold for team USA. This was Lochte's second gold medal in these games and Dwyer's Olympic debut. And for some final Olympic notes, Abby Wambach, a former Gator soccer player, continued team USA's winning streak. She scored the only goal for team USA against team North Korea. Wambach has three goals in her first three games. Team USA will take on New Zealand next in the quarterfinals, which will be on Friday, August 3rd.
