Gainesville- Will Muschamp was thrown his first curveball of the 2012 football season, and it happened on the first day of fall practice.

Wide Receivers coach Aubrey Hill resigned for what the team describes as "personal reasons," and Muschamp moved quickly to shuffle his coaching pieces to fill the void.

Muschamp himself will take over as recruiting coordinator and take over Hill's recruiting assignments on the recruiting trail.

Meanwhile, offensive coordinator Brent Pease and graduate assistant Bush Hamdan will share wide receiver coaching responsibilities.

Muschamp says he was surprised by Hill's resignation, and the players were "disappointed" but Muschamp says Hill did not want his personal issues to become a distraction to the team.

GAINESVILLE - University of Florida Wide Receiver Coach Aubrey Hill has resigned, head coach Will Muschamp announced Friday.

"Aubrey informed me he was resigning for personal reasons that have nothing to do with the University of Florida," said Muschamp. "Aubrey didn't want to be a distraction to our team and our football program and he thought it was best for him to move on. I appreciate Aubrey's efforts and wish him the best of luck moving forward. He will always remain a Gator."

"I have too much love and respect for this program to become a distraction as I deal with some personal issues," Hill said. "I'm thankful for the opportunity to have worked with Coach Muschamp, a tremendous staff and great group of players. The future is very bright here and the University of Florida will always have a special place in my heart. Go Gators."

Offensive coordinator Brent Pease and former Graduate Assistant Bush Hamdan will coach the wide receivers.

"I feel confident that Coach Pease and Coach Hamdan will step right in and provide the wide receivers with the coaching and teaching they need to be successful," said Muschamp. "Coach Pease was very involved with the wide receivers during the Spring and has 10 years of experience coaching wideouts, including five at Boise State.

"Coach Hamdan played quarterback for Coach Pease at Boise State and is the most familiar of anyone on our staff with the terminology and philosophy of Coach Pease's offense. He played a key role in installing our offense this past Spring. We feel like this is a good plan for the fall and I will make a decision in December about moving forward."

Hamdan served as the Tight Ends coach at Sacramento State before joining the Gator football office in January of 2012. He also interned for the Maryland Coaching staff during the 2010 season.

Hamdan was a back-up quarterback at Boise State from 2005-08 and was awarded the 2008 Bronco Excellence Award as a senior.

A highly-decorated high school quarterback, Hamdan was a member of the Super 44 Prep Team and All-Metro in Washington, D.C. During his prep career, he passed for more than 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns.

The Gaithersburg, Md., native graduated from Boise State with a bachelor's in communications in 2008. He went on to complete his master's in athletic administration from Idaho State.

His brother, Gibran, was a five-year NFL veteran and a seventh-round pick of the Washington Redskins in 2003.
