Lochte Takes Silver, Bronze to Close Out His 2012 Olympics
LONDON - Ryan Lochte had high goals heading into the 2012 London Olympics.
After starting off strong with a gold medal in the men's 400m individual medley against rival Michael Phelps, Lochte was brought back to reality against his swimming counterpart.
Phelps, the winningest medalist in Olympic history with 19, added one more to his tally by beating the former Gator in the men's 200m individual medley.
Phelps and Lochte raced for possibly the last time against one another, with Phelps clocking a 1:54.27 for gold and Lochte a 1:54.90 for silver.
Earlier in the pool, Lochte took bronze in the men's 200m backstroke, fading in the final 50 meters to teammate Tyler Clary (USA) and Irie Ryosuke (JPN) who took gold and silver, respectively.
Lochte earned two gold (400m IM, 4x200m freestyle relay), two silver (4x100m freestyle relay, 200m IM), and one bronze (200m backstroke) in all, including the 100th medal in UF history dating back to the 1968 Summer Games.
In other Olympic action, current Gator Elizabeth Beisel will race for gold on Friday in the women's 200m backstroke. Beisel earned the top qualifying time heading into Friday's final.

And in basketball, Team USA broke an Olympic record with a 156-73 blowout victory over Nigeria.
The Americans shot 71 percent from the field, and shattered the previous record for point total in a single game (138) midway through the fourth quarter.
