GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Union County may have been bumped from the top overall spot in Class 1A, but the Tigers are still playing like the team to beat come playoff time.

No. 2 Union County overcame early struggles against No. 3 Dixie County to beat the Bears 28-14.

Dixie County built their double-digit lead early in the first quarter. Duke Dawson connected with Cody Mitchell on  37-yard touchdown on the first offensive play from scrimmage for the Bears.

Dawson followed up his touchdown pass with a 9-yard scoring scamper to push the lead to 14.

But the Tigers rallied from there, shutting down Dixie County and scoring 28-unanswered points en route to the final margin.
