Jon Hammar was going on vacation when he was arrested at the Mexican border. 

After lawmakers worked for months to get him out, the former Marine is back home with his family in South Florida just in time for Christmas.

Hammar's father met him at the Mexican border and drove him back home.

He did have to be hospitalized briefly during the trip after suffering from flu-like symptoms.
