2 Dead in Triple Shooting in Lakeland
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say two people died during a shooting spree at a central Florida apartment complex that left a third person wounded.
Winter Haven police say a suspect is in custody following the gun violence Tuesday night. Officers found the dead at the apartment complex and the wounded man staggering along a nearby road.
The dead were identified 19-year-old Joe Palacios and 19-year-old Christian Rodriquez. Police said 20-year-old Estaban Zavala is hospitalized in stable condition. All were students at Polk State College in Winter Haven.
Thirty-two-year-old Joshua A. Davis is being charged in the slayings. He told an investigator the three had come over to smoke marijuana with him, and he shot them because he feared they were conspiring against him.
It was not clear if he has an attorney yet.
