HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Police in South Florida say human remains were found in the former backyard of a couple whose baby hasn't been seen in more than a year.
Calvin Melvin and Britney Sierra were jailed Friday on child neglect charges in Hallandale Beach. Detectives are trying to find out what happened to Dontrelle Melvin, who was 5 months old when last seen in July 2011.
Police Chief Dwayne Flourney said detectives found the remains in the backyard of the home where the couple lived when the boy was last seen.
The boy's disappearance was discovered after a child welfare worker visited the home acting on a tip from an abuse hotline.
Police say Calvin Melvin gave them conflicting stories on the boy's location.
