I am a South Florida native, born in Miami, Fl. I am one out of nine kids, so as you can tell I come from a pretty big family.
My parents are both Cuban Americans, which is why I speak both English and Spanish.
At the age of 13, I moved to Naples,Fl., where I discovered my passion for dance.
I danced jazz and hip-hop at a studio and then for my high school dance team. In 2006, I attended Florida Gulf Coast University.
After taking a journalism course as an elective, I realized I wanted to be a journalist one day.
Two years later I transferred to Florida International University where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Communications.
During my time at FIU I was part of my college dance team the Dazzlers.
I performed at football and basketball games and competed in the National Dance Association in Daytona. Even though I loved dancing I knew my heart was set on storytelling and delivering the news.
I started my career as an intern at WTVJ NBC Miami.
I interned in the production and editing department.
Five months into my internship I got hired as a studio field operator.
My duties included managing the stage, camera operator and assistant director.
During my free time, I would go out with reporters since that was my goal.
After being at WTVJ for just over a year, I got the opportunity to report here in Gainesville. I am excited to start my first reporting job and hope I can make a difference in this community.
