Gainesville gym prepares for New Year gym surge
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - With getting in shape at the top of many people’s to-do lists this new year, gyms across North Central Florida are seeing an increase in membership renewals and sign-ups. Bailey’s gym in Gainesville is no exception.
“More and more people have that New Year’s resolution where they want to come out to the gym, feel better about themselves, and take better care of themselves throughout the year,” said Bailey’s Club Manager, Warren Mallory.
With more members, comes more germs. The staff at Bailey’s is working around the clock to make sure they can keep up-- with extra measures like team-cleaning every three hours and using hospital-level disinfecting spray on all of the equipment, daily. On top of that, they have installed germ-killing UV lights as well as air purifiers in their AC system.
With an increase in members during the pandemic, staff members say that it will take a team effort to keep everyone healthy. They enforce every member to wear a mask while working out and encourage them to clean their equipment before and after use. At the end of the day, the staff refers to their motto-- that ‘their members are their top priority.’
“Do what you feel comfortable doing and make sure you put your safety at the highest priority at all times ... and that’s what we try to do here at the club. When people come in ... [we want] to make sure people know they are a top priority ... [that we are] making sure they are safe at all times,” said Mallory.
Before heading out to any public place, especially gyms-- if you are feeling any symptoms like a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, it’s best to stay home and contact your health care provider.
Bailey’s is offering a no-contract, zero registration fee for the month-- to help members stick to their New Year’s resoluion.
