BRONSON, Fla. (WCJB) - Immediate emergency information, whenever and wherever is available to Levy County residents via a new app called Levy County EM and it’s free.

“The more information we can provide to you, the better you can make sure you and your family are safe,” said David Peaton, the assistant director for Levy County Emergency Management.

It’s available to download on iPhones and Androids and everything is categorized per topic. For example, COVID-19 resources are under public health tab, preparing for severe weather is under preparedness and if for people who prefer to call to ask a question; contact info for county and city officials is a click away.

“This is not designed to replace anything we already have,” added Peaton. “We will still run our social media accounts. If you already signed up for the alert levy notification you still get those emergency notifications. It’s not here to replace anything. It’s here to be an extra tool that you can use to help make you as prepared as you can possibly be.”

While each county has emergency management alerts, Levy County so far is the only one with an app as well.
