Gator volleyball team advances past Morehead State in NCAA tournament
Florida returns from three-week layoff with a sweep of Eagles
OMAHA, Neb. (WCJB) -The eighth-seeded Florida volleyball team made quick work of Morehead State in Thursday’s round of thirty-two matchup in the NCAA tournament, sweeping the match 25-14, 25-19, 25-19. The Gators advance to the round of sixteen for the 27th time and will battle ninth-seeded Ohio State on Sunday.
Thayer Hall led a balanced attack for the Gators with 10 kills. Lauren Forte and Holly Carlton added nine kills for Florida (20-3), which hit for a .244 percentage.
Defensively, the Gators held the Eagles (17-2) to an attack percentage of .073 and added eight blocks.
Carlton delivered three of Florida’s eight aces as the Gators looked crisp in their first action in three weeks. Florida hadn’t played since March 25th, a win over Texas A&M.
