GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Senator Rick Scott doesn’t think the federal government should require people to show proof they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19 before boarding a flight.

He introduced the Freedom to Fly Act which would prevent the TSA from requesting vaccine status of airline passengers.

Scott says he’s talked to families across the state who believe the government has no right to require people to share their personal medical history to board a plane.

“You gotta get people back to flying, you gotta get people back on vacation, it creates a lot of jobs and plus that’s what people want to do. They want to get out, talk to friends and family and have experiences. Plus for florida, it creates jobs and part of vibrant economy.”

Scott says he is actively working to get bipartisan support on this bill and believes he’ll get it.
