GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - UF’s small animal hospital is the first in the state to successfully perform a full ankle procedure on a dog.

Leo, a 7-year-old labrador retriever, is recuperating after the surgery.

The surgery involved replacing his joint with a prosthetic implant.

The joint was replaced because Leo had severe arthritis in his ankle.

The day after the procedure, Leo was able to begin using that leg again.
