OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Wednesday night around 11:20, Ocala Police officers were at a traffic stop when they heard shots being fired.
“310 it sounds like rifles being shot south of my location,” said an officer.
A witness to the shooting who wants to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation said he saw the whole thing.
“The rounds were such high velocity it went through the building all the way through the back yard through the metal building to the back gate. it was just crazy last night.”
That’s when police saw a white Mercedes coming to NW 4th Ave. at a high rate of speed.
“Inside that car were four occupants and four firearms obviously the safety of the citizens and the officers were potentially at risk,” said Captain Sandra Duryea.
Those four teens are 19-year-old Jarrett Vining jr., two 17-year-olds Joshua Vining and Colton Whitler, and 16-year-old Hunter Whitler.
The witness said he was surprised this happened in his neighborhood.
“My visitor dove for cover and hid but we were really rattled.” No one was injured, but all four were arrested and are facing felony charges.
Joshua and Colton were also arrested in early April for manslaughter after shooting and killing a 16-year-old in Belleview but bonded out. But all four right now are in the Marion County jail.
