Gators hire design team for Ben Hill Griffin Stadium restoration
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Florida Gators are calling on some extra help to restore the Swamp.
The athletic program is hiring Crawford Architects to develop renovation, construction and phasing options.
Some of the things the groups are looking to upgrade are seating, restrooms, entry gates and the sound system.
The goal of the restoration is to preserve the energy and history of the stadium while upgrading the fan experience.

“The Crawford Architects Team is honored by this selection and look forward to collaborating with the University of Florida on this transformational project,” said David Murphy, owner, and senior principal with Crawford Architects. “The Swamp is one of, if not the most iconic stadium in football. The building and its unique features offer a wealth of ‘design assets’ that the Crawford Team will draw on to create an enhanced game-day experience.”
The initial financial estimates place the cost of the project to be approximately $400 million.
The design group will work with a construction management firm and have the entire project team in place by January 2024.
