A statement from FDOT said:
The Hatchet Creek Bridge on State Road 26 is being closely monitored by our Engineers due to flood waters to watch for erosion and water levels. Out of an abundance of caution, FDOT has closed this bridge while we continue to monitor water levels in order to further investigate the full impacts sustained to the bridge from the storm.
Drivers should always drive safely and follow all traffic devices on roadways including the barricades that are currently in place at this location.
Based on current observations, FDOT anticipates the need for some temporary repairs due to storm impacts. FDOT will continue to monitor the situation and keep the community apprised of the latest status. A project for this bridge is scheduled for April 2025.”
