GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Khalilah Pinkney teaches Pre-K exceptional student education at Duval Early Learning Academy in Gainesville.

She has worked in education for more than 20 years.

“When I say I love it, I wouldn’t trade it,” Pinkney expresses.

She began her career as a paraprofessional before becoming a preschool teacher. Pinkney said she enjoys working with young students because she gets to see their growth before kindergarten.

Pinkney was named the school’s Teacher of the Year and also received the One Class at a Time award, which honors educators making a difference in their classrooms.

“That was a big honor because I am quiet and shy but like I said I love my job and will go hard for my kids. I’m going to do my best because I want them to succeed and see the growth. It’s awesome, I love it,” she said.

Her work is helping young students build the skills they need for success in the classroom and beyond.
