Downtown Gainesville Construction Prompts Call to Support Local Businesses

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Officials in Gainesville are urging residents to support downtown businesses as construction continues on a new outdoor dining space known as “The Streatery.”

In a public statement, county leaders acknowledged the disruption, noting that construction has partially obscured some storefront entrances.

“Due to construction, downtown businesses need our help,” the statement reads.

Despite limited visibility, all businesses in the affected area remain open and accessible via sidewalks.

Officials encourage the community to continue visiting downtown shops and restaurants during the project.
