Gas station robber threatens employee with knife in Hawthorne, Alachua County deputies say
HAWTHORNE, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for help to solve an armed robbery at a gas station in Hawthorne on Sunday.
Sheriff’s deputies say shortly after 10 p.m., a masked man wearing black and gray entered the Chevron gas station on U.S. Highway 301, near Southeast 75th Avenue in Hawthorne.
The robber jumped over the counter, assaulted a store employee, and threatened them with a knife. Deputies say he stole a large amount of cash from the register. He then ran from the store, heading north.
Investigators do not believe the robbery was connected to another armed gas station robbery in eastern Alachua County on May 10.
