GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A convicted Florida felon is now accused of breaking into a home a stealing around $6,000 worth of cash, gold jewelry, and a firearm.

On Monday, Alachua County deputies were called out to a home on reports of a burglary and arrived on the scene to find the victim’s roll-up garage door pried open and broken windows.

Deputies say they saw on security footage a suspicious vehicle registered for Mikale Fuye, 20, in the area. He had been previously convicted on charges related to possessing and recklessly firing a firearm.

Deputies located Fuye’s vehicle on Wednesday and conducted a traffic stop on Wednesday. Fuye attempted to flee the scene where he then crashed his car into another driver.

On Southwest 61st Street, he rear-ended an SUV and drove into a ditch near a children’s playground. Fuye attempted to run on foot but was cut off by deputies.

Fuye was then arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and fleeing and before being taken to the hospital to be medically cleared.
