Spotify’s new disco ball logo won’t be here forever. Here’s why it changed
(Gray News) - Spotify’s new disco ball logo, which was met with ire across the internet, will only be around for a limited time.
The music streaming platform transformed its logo into a dark green disco ball behind its usual three black arcs. The change happened May 14 in honor of the platform’s 20th anniversary.
Three days later, it responded to a post on X, saying it would return next week.
The temporary logo garnered online backlash. One user, for example, posted, “The person who designed this logo should be fired.”
The company responded, saying, “We know glitter is not for everyone. Our temp glow up ends soon. Your regularly scheduled Spotify icon returns next week.”

Other users posted that they enjoyed it, with one user saying, “I actually like the disco ball Spotify logo, I don’t want it to go. People hate whimsy.”
