GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Trump administration is wading into the discussion over the search for a new University of Florida president.

In a post on X on Friday, Secretary of Education Linda McMahon wrote, “Florida has led the fight to get discriminatory DEI out of our schools and universities. UF deserves a president who will continue to drive those reforms.”

The finalist, Dr. Stuart Bell, most recently served as president of the University of Alabama during a time when the school made efforts to recruit and retain students from diverse backgrounds.
