Rain helps contain north central Florida wildfires over Memorial Day weekend

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Rain over Memorial Day weekend helped contain major wildfires that have burned across north central Florida for several months.

According to the Florida Forest Service, all of the larger wildfires in the area are at 85% containment or above.

Many north central Florida counties remain under mandatory burn bans. Columbia, Gilchrist, and Suwannee counties are not under burn bans.
