GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The warning period is coming to an end for speeding cameras installed in Alachua County’s school zones.
Starting Tuesday, drivers will be issued citations for speeding in school zones. Cameras were installed last month at school zones near Chiles Elementary, Kanapaha Middle School and Wiles Elementary.
Deputies gave drivers a 30-day warning period after those were installed. Drivers who go more than 11 miles over the speed limit will get a $100 fine in the mail.
Officials say the cameras could expand to other areas.
