Paul Runner makes a stop in Newberry to discuss his campaign
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - With Florida’s gubernatorial primary about two and a half months away, a republican candidate made a campaign stop in Newberry on Wednesday.
Former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner spoke about a range of issues, like opposing new datacenters in Florida. He says these centers are bad for the aquifer. He also spoke against solar panels and has a preference for gas energy.
Newberry community members attended the campaign event. One local says he appreciates the stop from candidate Paul Runner because he can stay in touch with local politics.
“It’s wonderful to have them come here and talk to us and become interested in what we’re doing here,” said Carl Spain; He has lived in Newberry for 5 years. “I think the potential for North Florida is enormous.”
Renner is running against fellow republicans Byron Donalds, Jay Collins, and James Fishback, and democrats David Jolly and Jerry Demings.
